You guessed it, I turned 40 this year. How is it possible to celebrate my 40th year of life when it feels like I’ve only lived 28? I definitely don’t feel mature enough for a 40 year old.
So, here are 40 snippets I have learned in my 40 short years of life. Enjoy!
- I don’t know it all
- I have more to offer people than I realize
- Vinegar is great for washing windows
- The more loving I am with myself, the more loving I am with others
- It’s ok to say no with NO explanation (still a work in progress)
- Emotions are not my enemy…they are there to alert me of something bad or good
- Do the opposite of everything the media says to do (thank you 2020 for that priceless nugget)
- Lip gloss and clip on earrings go a long way (got my ears pierced twice…didn’t go so well)
- My words create my world
- Its not worth it if it steals my peace
- Error on the side of mercy not judgement
- Talk less….listen more
- Laughter is better than medicine…even if you have to fake it
- I (and you) will NEVER be a perfect parent
- I will make mistakes….just get back up
- Don’t pick your zits, it will scar your face
- Scrape your tongue instead of brushing it
- Call your mom MORE
- If it looks big and overwhelming, just take the first step
- People are not thinking about me as much as I think they are
- I will never regret eating healthy, but will most always regret the opposite
- I can’t afford NOT to tithe
- Be happy for other people’s success’s
- Loving certain people from a distance is ok
- Be willing to pay for mentorship (someone who is already where you want to go will save you lots of time and frusteration)
- I was not created to carry that burden
- RELAX more
- God’s Grace is deeper, wider, longer, and higher than anything my heart could comprehend
- Spending time in the Bible and prayer is NEVER wasted time
- Never underestimate the power of a smile
- Aging lines around your mouth are not a curse…we need more people who smile alot
- Lots of laundry and dishes mean I am blessed with clothes and food
- Compliment your kids way more than you criticize them
- LISTEN to your children. When they feel heard, they will hear you out and be more willing to obey
- Marry your best friend (opposite sex of course)
- Stop putting pressure on people and put it on God’s promises instead
- It takes a quality person to stay friends with someone they disagree with
- Complain less, be thankful more (it changes me, changes the atmosphere, changes the circumstances)
- Managing my time is a BIG secret to success
- The Goodness of God is WAY better than I imagined

Ok, so I actually wrote this last year when I was ACTUALLY 40….but did not post this till after I turned 41 so to be fair…I will add 1 more thing I have learned in life…
And drum roll please……
41. The older I get, the more I realize I do not know.
